whine whine whine: television
You know I don't ask much. I've got a handful of shows I watch (via Tivo) regularly, and they satisfy my need for a certain kind of storytelling. Right now on the list: E.R. (shut up. I like it.), Battlestar Galactica (SciFi), Lost (ABC), Huff (Showtime), Rome, (HB0), the Sopranos (HBO), Deadwood (HBO). Jon Stewart (Comedy).
If you look at this list, what comes to mind? Nothing? Exactly.
With two exceptions, all of these shows are currently on sabbatical. Just, gone. Until January (to the people who schedule Lost: you have a mean streak a mile wide); or in some cases, March (damn you HBO) or even longer. Huff may not be coming back at all, which means I'll unsubscribe from Showtime.
Jon Stewart is still on, but he takes three day weekends and frequent breaks. E.R. is on once a week. Usually.
I am put out. I am mightily, sorely unhappy. Sunday night, and nothing worth watching on what, 300 channels? A travesty, I tell you. Shameful.

Have you thought about giving "Grey's Anatomy" a shot? It's my new tv addiction, and oh, I do adore it!

I KNOW. I love TiVo, but it can be pretty depressing to see "None Scheduled" all down your list of Season Passes.
And I also have to cast an assenting vote for "Grey's Anatomy." It's really good.

well then. I'll give it a try.

Right there with you. Really.
And I'll throw my vote down with Grey's as well. With qualification-- sometimes the show's rush to be prurient actually knocks the story offtrack. And while I like a musical montage as much as the next... guy (I just realized that there are no other males who actually like musical montages)... they ammount to a lot of dead space in the show's 42 minutes of airtime.
Still. Jokes are often quite funny and the actors are pretty much all gorgeous.

Im gonna toss my vote into the Greys Anatomy pile - it started a little slow but I am glad I stuck with it. I too am a BSG fan, and am missing it big time, although I am thrilled they have picked it up again. And if I am being completely honest, I will confess to watching way too many re runs of the Law & Orders - all of them! I seem to find myself compelled to turn them on to knit to =)

The dh told me he'd read a conversation where a lot of people were unsubscribing from the premium channels until 2007 when their shows started up again! We're stuck with the major networks, as I'm too cheap to subscribe to anything but Netflix, where I can watch past seasons of various series all at once, ha!
