I was afraid of this email
when it didn't come yesterday, I thought maybe I had ducked the bullet. But here is it:
Hi, keep checking your site to see if there's an update of queen of swords. now that it's december, just wondering if you have delivered it to bantam, and when expected release date will be, and when it will be available in australia.I'm working hard here. Really, I am. I plan to have the darn ms. to Bantam by the 31st of the month. After that, it's up to them and I don't have any more idea than you do of dates. Really. When I know, you'll know.
It's great that people are so looking forward to this book, really. I'm pleased. But believe me, I know what day it is.

Sara,
Though I am not a writer I wish those "non-writers" which I think this e-mailer MUST be would realize how dificult it must be to turn out novels. Turn out.....no....compose beautifully is the right phrase.....Ask her about how difficult it was to create those pesky term papers in college! Ask her how hard it is to find time to pen a few lines in a diary. Write letters and correspond creatively over a long period of time with friends. Like Hemingway, and a whole bunch of writers whose names escape me. To pour over manuscripts and write and rewrite and suffer the scrutiny of editors.
Relax dear "Storytelling website member" This is for our Ms Sara a great passion and way of live but let's not forget that this is also work and a task that most of us would fall terribly short of. It is art but let us remember that it is also a business. It will be great when it comes. Let's not nag. Don't worry we will all get to go back to the 18th century and those wonderful characters. They will be waiting for us. You'll not miss anything. I would rather wait for a long while and have at the end of the waiting.... be a great book that we can hold in our hands and take to bed with us...turn on our reading lights or settle down in our comfortable chairs.... instead of having something that was quickly churned out.
Let's all breath and enjoy this site until Sara lets us know.

Hi Sara,
First, I don't think your Australian fan was out of line asking about "Queen of Swords." I'd been wondering the same thing myself, so if nothing else it was a good opportunity for all of us to get an update. But I shall wait (somewhat) patiently for the wheel to turn.
Second, I have a question. In my Amazon.com "Recommended for you" section today, they recommended a book also titled "Queen of Swords" by Judith Tarr. The subject is very, very different from yours, but I was just wondering about the duplication of title - can you do so, and if not, who gets to decide the new title? You, the publisher, name out of a hat?
Just wondering. Thanks much!
Stephanie
