I hear you!

I do understand that those of you in NZ, Australia and Canada can't watch Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. Obviously I can't leave you out of the equation here, so as of Monday evening people outside the States who want to see the first chapter of Queen of Swords, here's what you do:

Promise me (by email) that you'll watch four full episodes of Farscape, either in broadcast, if that's available to you, or by renting the videos or dvds. The promise will be enough, for the time being, to give you access to the chapter. But I will be expecting another email with the titles of the four episodes you've watched, and one line of dialogue of your choice from any of the four. Say, within a month's time. Could you cheat your way into reading the chapter without watching the episodes? Now, why would you want to do that? Really, that would be like turning your back on a hot fudge sundae. Or, to use one of my father's favorite expressions: like cutting off your nose in spite of your face. Really, he said it like that. English wasn't his first language.

Episodes I recommend for the yet to be initiated:

Now mind, I'm not insisting on these episodes, but I do highly recommend them as a good place to get started.

For those of you in the States, if you've got access to Sci-Fi, watch the miniseries; if you don't get sci-fi for whatever reason, this deal applies to you, too.

Edited to add these snippets from reviews of the mini (thanks, RydraWong):

"Has any science-fiction show ever looked this good? ...some of the most imaginative visuals ever captured on the small screen ... Black and Browder share a prickly chemistry that is a pleasure to watch. Their dialogue crackles ... a satisfying coda to one of TV's most thrilling, original series. " -- Boston Herald
""Farscape" is back in top form, reminding us why it was the finest science-fiction show on television... terrific ... big bang of a two-parter ... this grand adventure fires up all of the classic "Farscape" elements that made it the thinking fan's science-fiction show ... sly wit and silly slapstick... breathtaking effects and the tense showdowns ... an old-fashioned love story and a war epic. You get poignant moments and goofy moments. You don't need to be fully up to speed on the "Farscape" universe in order to enjoy this giddy, galactic joy ride ..." -- Cleveland Plain Dealer

Thanks for that, Sara. A great way to get people to take the dive.
For newcomers, if they can't get hold of the episodes already mentioned, I suggest:

Season 2: Liars, Guns and Money trilogy and Die me, Dichotomy

Season 3: Green Eyed Monster, Infinite Possibilities pt 1 & 2, Fractures

Season 4: Promises, Kansas, Terra Firma, Bad Timing.

Happy Viewing.

Thanks for the great opportunity Sara! I have not yet seen a single Farscape episode (I am Canadian too) and now I have no excuse. I went out and rented 4 episodes at the local video store and will start tonight. I do not know how to contact you by email to give you all the required names etc. so could you please give me the correct address. My apologies if it is listed somewhere really obvious on the website....I couldnt find it. Have a wonderful day.

PS I loved FAS. I was so glad to get to know Lily...I keep thinking she and Simon are headed for rough waters but I guess I'll just have to wait to find out.

Sara,

OK..........I watched it! Great! Campy! It reminded me of another series I was hooked on called "La Femme Nikita" Have you watched that one? About a secret spy organization fighting world wide crime. I'll have to post about that later. It too went for 4 years and then was cut....fans brought it back for a miniseries. I was insane.
FARSCAPE
Liked it....I followed it pretty well....I understood by way of some of the backstory....I know that the relationships between the characters runs deep and the stories must be lengthy and interesting. I couldn't understand all of everyone's names . Like you were saying about....reading the end of the story before you finish...I wasn't disappointed but interested in finding out more. The grande finale of a huge story that I somehow missed! Where was I that I didn't come upon this show? Some of the lines I liked were

John to Pilot "Everything begins with family"

When a bunch of guys with the tentacles on their heads came in and John's wife said "Are you the reinforcements?" and they said "NO, we are the band! and KISS is the opening act!" Funny....so 80's
Another funny scene was when the creature who swallowed and brought up the crystallized pieces of John and his girlfriend burped up the wedding ring at the appropriate moment.
I thought the large tentacled friend of John was the sexiest alien I have ever seen. Wonderful voice. How did they get to be such friends? The Farscapeworld website said something about his wife getting killed? I'll be looking for that in the shows.
I guess the whole series will be like this....I went out and rented the first few DVDs but they are "The best OF" and are not each nd every show....OH well...Thanks Sara for the show. Hey is the book good. Called Farscape, House of Cards. Sometimes the novelizations are not too great.
