off topic

I live in the Pacific Northwest. The rest of the country is floundering in snowdrifts, but yesterday we took the dogs for a walk along a trail where, I swear it's true, there are wildflowers in bloom.

We've found the same thing here (Nova Scotia)! Not the wildflowers, but my primroses look like they're coming back up already. It's a rare treat, but I am hoping for a white Christmas all the same.

All the best to you and your family.

In California we're used to our vegetation not knowing what's what. First sign that fall is truly here? The grass gets green. First sign that spring is fully established? The grass starts to turn brown. Our native stuff is used to it, but imported things get confused. Silly plants, expecting us to actually have a winter. Sheesh.
