I just finished Fire Along The Sky about 20 minutes ago, and now I wish it had taken me more time to read so that I wouldn't have to wait so long between books!  I found this book to be a lot more intricate than the others, with so many characters to follow.  I must admit that at first I was a little disappointed with the jump in years at the beginning, since it felt like I had missed Lily and Daniel growing up, but now that I am finished, I realise that this story took place at the most exciting time of all of the characters' lives.  I am really pleased that Jennet has become such a central character, and I am anxious to see what happens to her in Queen of Swords.

Plenty of Jennet in Queen of Swords, and I hope you'll enjoy it.

Fire Along the Sky was my favorite in the series (if I HAD to choose). I'm so excited QOS is almost here. As before every new release, I start re-reading all the books to make sure that I remember the details of what happened to who so I get the full experience when reading the newest installment. Soon, very soon, I expect with all this re-reading, I'll have these books memorized!

Interesting view point, I began with Fire along the Sky not knowing it was a series and then after reading researched Sara Donati to find out that the book was the most recent of the series. I asked for the other three for mother's day and was pleasantly engaged in reading them, actually staying up quite late everynight as I couldn't put it down. Hard to teach grade three's in the morning when your brain is still in the books. I really enjoyed Fire Along the Sky and wanted to know more about Hannah, so going back and reading the others was incredible. I first thought it might be hard to read them knowing what has happened to them all in the fourth book but it was actually awesome to uncover and peel back the layers of experiences that lead them to the place they were all at. I too will reread them all in anticipation of the next one, can't wait!
Just this week, I've been re-reading Fire Along the Sky. It's the first time I've picked it up again, mostly because I initially found it to be so dark and I didn't want to put myself through that again. Coming off of Lake in the Clouds, which puts the reader so squarely in Hannah's camp, and then having to see what she's gone through in the past ten years...that was hard. Then there's the evil priest character at the end, who creeped me out completely.

I have to say that I'm enjoying it much more this time around, maybe because I know what to expect. I'm appreciating the love story between Lily and Simon, which is sweet and complicated and real. I'm still not sure about Jennet and Luke, though--I need to see them together more to really get a feel for their relationship.

Can't wait for Queen of Swords...

Firenze - I have never read a series backwards before, but I guess it would be really interesting to, as you say "peel back the layers".  Have you ever read any other series in this way?  (I realise that it was unintentional in the case of Sara's books)

To me good books have to be read at least three times. First reading I am to eager to find out what is coming next, missing a lot! Second reading is to have the revelations.

Third reading I really take my time, even re-reading some paragraphs, stopping for considerations, interpretations and admiring the authors creativity, cleverness and hard work.

For your information Rosina, your books (Sara/Rosina) are in that category. Thank you for creating stories, which bring us joy.
I take it as a real compliment that a book reveals more on the second reading.

Who is that priest guy in FATS? he was a trickey one. I felt really sad when Liam died, i really really wanted him to go back to Hannah. I wonder if he didn't die, then would he have gotten together with Hannah anyway?
I too am glad that Lily finally fell for Simon, but it was cute how she played hard to get. You are always sure to have a good lot of lovers in the Into the Wilderness Sreies. and each couple match perfectly with each other. My favourite couple, apart from the obvious Nathaniel and Elizabeth's beautiful relationship is..(even though only for a short time) was Hannah and Strikes the Sky. He was quite charming. hehe

I may call down fire upon my head for saying this, but...

Going into FatS, I too really wanted Liam and Hannah to find a way back to each other.  I knew he really loved her and I thought that her love for him was equally strong.  But, after reading the way things played out once they were finally reunited, I realized that whatever love Hannah had felt was of the childhood variety--she certainly didn't take those feelings seriously anymore.  I think finding true love with Strikes-the-Sky helped her to come to terms with Liam (at least in her heart).

Obviously, she was his 'one and only'.  But he wasn't hers.

Thats true ejg11, but she was kind've preoccupied and still holding on to strikes the sky. So maybe if he survived and carried on with Hannah then maybe she would of changed her mind, just like Lily's feelings toward Simon changed. But its too late i guess. But from what I've read from other people's posts QOS is gonna have a few more opportunities for Hannah. I also think it was sad that we just came to know Strikes the Sky, but we lost him just as fast. He was a cheeky character.

I was just thinking, how much i wanted to know the reaction of Simon when Lily had to explain her bruises and tell him what Justus (is that how it's spelt?) did to her/ tried to do. I like it how the men in the ITW series are completely protective.

I agree I wondered as well!  I cannot believe the men wouldn't have done something.
